On February 12, 2025, the Sustainability Academy of the Union of Banks of Kyrgyzstan, within the framework of a signed memorandum of cooperation, jointly with the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research (CAIER), conducted a specialized training for representatives of OJSC “Eldik Bank”. The event focused on key aspects of the climate agenda and ecological transformation in the financial sector.

- Fundamentals of the climate agenda: causes, consequences of climate change, and global challenges.
- Climate change regulation.
- Carbon footprint assessment and reporting in banks.
- The role of the financial sector and government in addressing climate issues.
- Current trends and strategies in the ecological transformation of the financial sector.
The participants gained in-depth knowledge of global climate policy changes and practical tools for integrating the environmental agenda into the banking sector. Discussions covered prospects for implementing sustainable financial mechanisms and strategies aimed at reducing the carbon footprint and adapting to climate challenges.
Trainers:
– Lyazzat Kaibaldiyeva – Head of ESG with over eight years of experience in sustainable development and environmental consulting. She specializes in:
- Carbon footprint assessment (Scope 1, 2, 3) and climate reporting in compliance with international standards (GHG Protocol, IFRS S2, ISO 14064, ISO 14067)
- Development of ESG strategies and corporate documentation
- Conducting corporate training and consulting for leading companies and banks, including Halyk Bank, KazMunayGas, the World Bank, and others
– Dmitry Metelev – An expert with over 20 years of experience in strategic and operational management, specializing in the development and implementation of growth strategies, risk identification and assessment, corporate governance, and optimization of organizational structures and processes. He holds an MBA and certifications in Lean Six Sigma and Sustainable & Climate Risks Management (GARP).
Today, February 13, 2025, this training is also being conducted for representatives of OJSC “Aiyl Bank”, CJSC “Bank Kompanion”, OJSC “Dos-Credobank”, and CJSC “Bank of Asia”.
